Possibly the best Shellac album - or is it At Action Park...? You liking it Mike?
I've got me hands on Forever Changing - the Elektra Records Box Set 1963-1973. Nice. Also promo of new Dead Meadow album - very very good. Also listening to new Earth album - awesome. Picked up Fela Kuti 'Zombie' album- dipping my toe in Fela Kuti. S'good. Less 'world music' than I thought it would be - pretty good.

Its gotta be At Action Park for me mate,i've had 1000 hurts for a long time on copied cd so thought i'd pickup the original like but for me action park is my favourite of shellac,How is the new dead meadow i should be off to see them in cardiff shortly, also im liking the new earth not as much as im liking the newest pelican though I'm kinda going mad for Les Savy Fav at the moment along with fellow welsh rockers future of the left (check em out someitime)

This week I have mainly been listening to: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 'Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!' It's further proof, like it was needed, of Nick Caves genius. Truly he is a cut above pretty much anyone else working in, oh I don't know, music today. It's a brilliant brilliant album. Gutter Twins 'Saturnalia' Pretty much the best thing either of these dudes has been involved with for a few years. Was getting a bit bored of the whole Lanegan 'gun for hire' shtick and Dulli's been treading water for a while (though I guess Twilight Singers are 'ok'). This is just brooding and intense. S'great album. At one point Lanegan gets so low down I feared we were gonna get the 'brown note'. Know what I mean. Monkeywrench 'Gabriels Horn' More news on this later after I've had a lay down. It's great though:) Howlin Rain 'Magnificent Friend' Excellent follow up to HR debut. More soul, more hammond organ. But Ethan continues to wail!! Only got this today (pre-release CDR thang) but it's damn good. Steve Malkmus and the Jicks 'Real Emotional Trash' Kinda lost interest in Malkmus post his first solo album. But this is kinda groovy. Starts off all 1973 UK dark folk rock but then sorta veers into Pavement (un-surprising!) territory...S'alright.
Good week for CDS!

Got Saturnalia and Gabriels Horn this week as well and have to say that both are impecable albums. Mark's (Arm) voice has never sounded better, and whilst I've never been much of a fan of Duhli I was thoroughly impressed by the entire album with Lanegan who seemingly can't make a bad album.
I reckon this is the best of The Monkeywrench's albums, both lyrically, musically and for it's progression with the sound of the former 2 albums.
