Well last night I went to see Mudhoney at London Astoria and even though I ended up stranded in London for 7 hours after and one of my friends was too drunk to get in it was the best gig I've ever been to so far. All that energy in such a small venue was amazing, and the atmosphere was brilliant. As soon as they ripped into 'suck you dry' I knew I was in for a brilliant night. Crowd surfing sucked a little because where it was wild enough to get up you were only five seconds away the guards who seemed more than ready and willing to pull me out asap, so I ended up crowd surfing ten times. Each time they usually sent me to the right gate and I'd end up dancing with this big bald guy while he threw me up in the air, lol he was great, saw him about 5 times. Awww god it was sweaty there though, before mudhoney were on I was already topless drinking water, and as soon as they came on it just hit me like a fucking earthquake, the heat and energy of all these people moshing jumping singing and screaming or what-not was just fucking amazing. My personal favourite bit was during the encour when i was standing at the front, screaming for hate the police. I started screaming the vocals at the top of my voice and then Steve Turner, like a lot of other people surrounding, just looked at me and grinned. They didn't play it The two supporting bands (HOLLY GOLIGHTLY + THE COUNTRY TEASERS) didn't really do much for me personally, when they were on i just stodd there bobbing my head, like most people. Maybe Mudhoney wanted to gig with people they could totally upstage. So who went to the gig? And what were your personal experiences of it?

Hey Lainey I went too, and i think i know the bald guy ur talking about, he chucked me up too . I think he was the same guy that gave me a beer outside, anyone that was waiting since about 5:30 will have seen him (the one with all the booze). Oh and Btw the setlist posted above is not entirely the right order, I know for a fact straight life was played towards the end, I dont know if any are missing or werent played though.

Inside job was third as well, i'm fairly sure on that...
I think he was wearing a red top and he was by the gate on the right side, i saw him every time i crowd surfed [apart from the one time i was sent to the left gate]. He wasn't completely bald, he had a line of hair unshaved at the back from what I remember. He was great. The guy i was with who didn't make it in was blad too, completely, with shades, he gave a beer away too from what I remember, random useless fact.
Where abouts were you in the gig? have a good time? fancy chatting bout it on msn or something so we don't spam the board?

Hey guys, yea i was at the astoria on sunday, i've seen them a couple of times before but this was the best gig by far! they played 4 UK shows in '02 but they weren't really into it as much then. the highlight of the night for me was being sick during 'touch me i'm sick' (seriously!) i really don't think mudhoney are the kind of band who would chose to play with other people they would upstage deliberately, that's quite a narrow minded view. they normally chose friends or musicians who they respect or have played with in the past - like billy childish at the electric ballroom (i admit though i'm not about to go buy a holly golightly CD unfortunately) either way it was the best gig i've been to so far, but that may change this friday as i was lucky enough to get tickets for the pixies in brixton! oh yea, and if the really pretty girl in the black top who i was moshing next to reads this, then email me! hehe. p.s. what did everyone think of steve's beard?!

It's well weird guys musta outnumbered girls by about 3-1. Doubt any girls joined this board because of the gig either. I preferred this gig to Metallica at Earls Court, and that was a very good night.
