Ok so its not really a gig but I went to the Kerrang awards last night at this place called the Brewery in London. Hilarious. Sat on a table with folks who work with me on this band called the Answer (lovely lads - check em out - very Black Crowes/Thin Lizzy) - they were nominated for best new band. Didn't win though.
Slayer and Angus Young picked up awards. Placebo (yeuch) and Lost Prophets (why?) were there as well + dudes from the Prodigy, Fall Out Boy and Aiden etc. Generally I hate awards ceremonies but this was pretty funny! Meat Loaf was there presenting. Nick Oiliveri too. Dudes from Orange Goblin - ha ha ha. I don't like much or any of the music - esp all these crap haircut bands.
But I dig Slayer and Angus Young though! Really funny
Got pretty drunk on free wine and these shots of something (might have been Jaegermeister - I'm not sure...). The whole place was done out with folks from the Torture Garden (kind of S&M Jim Rose stuff). Didn't know where to look at times!! Blokes - I don't know - sort of piercing and er... inserting bits of metal in each other. Women in cages and stuff. Banging nails up each other noses.
Ended up cabbing it across East London to catch my mates band the Fields play (didn't make the aftershow at Turnmills Club - Slayer were there as well). Really good night!!
Also - and this is kinda weird... saw Charlie Harper from the UK Subs at a market today in London Bridge. He was looking cool - must be in his mid 50s. Eating a tasty looking burger surrounded by Japanese punk girls.
I'm so hungover I may have been halucinating.....
