So I've seen a handful of bands on here from around the world with a common interest, mUdHoNeY.
Would any of you be interested in doing a tribute album with all of us covering a song by them? Does anyone have distro?

I would be intrested,i kind of do/dont have a band,but i have friends who play bass,guitar and drums and i would be very intrested in this mabye each band do 2 songs or something? could be really fun idea.

My hand is up - naturally - and as I said I will help in any way I can - but what does a 'fans' tribute mean exactly? As in all star Mudhoney Pro-Boards jam?  What ya thinking of? I'm trying to think of band tributes that are good and I can think of... er The Bridge Tribute to Neil Young and er..... thats it!! I mean I like the Scientists tribute record for the Mudhoney track. I have a Kinks tribute with Mudhoney on it, and that Damned one (with Mudhoney - can you see a pattern here!) That old New Wave comp (with Redd Kross/Sonic Youth and er Mudhoney! HA!) was good. I tell you what was good - the Shimmy Disc comp with bands covering Rutles tunes!! Cheese And Onions by Galaxie 500. WOW! I mean you could license a Mudhoney covers album with Sonic Youth 'Touch Me I'm Sick', Spacemen 3 'When Tomorrow Hits', Ash covered a track off of EGBDF didn't they? Who else 'well known' has covered Mudhoney? Melvins did 'Sweet Young Thing' right? You might wanna ask some current underground UK and US bands to do it. Like UK bands Part Chimp, Todd, Hey Colossus or US types like Comets On Fire or Oneida (I know the Oneida chaps are Mudhoney fans!). Maybe for some light and shade get some folky types like Feathers or Espers to interpret some tunes. I'd LOVE to hear Six Organs Of Admittance covering something like Mudride..... Getting some interesting bands involved might be tricky! But it'd be fun!! Then all you'd need was money to pay them  (for the studio time and all). Make it a benefit album!! I'm gonna keep thinking about this..... |
