jack white is an amazing guitar player and can write some great songs. also, i think the white stripes are a good band for kids to get into, because from there they can start to explore the whole sympathy / in the red / garage punk underground thing. i wonder how many of them actually did that though.

so im gonna be hated, but whats new. they fucking suck, cumon, they are both weedy dweebs who formed a band which they call "blues" yeah right!! jack white aint that good at playing guitar he certainly isnt bob mould or j mascis, so they suck and thats it, one of the worst bands in history. now if you want to know a 2 piece who sound like there are 70 members in the band, play energetically, have heart and soul and dont claim to be anything, but just play music to rock to, then listen to winnebago deal, but if you like the shit the white stripes fart out in their wet dreams carry on.....

I tend to agree with Thorn on this one... they don't have a lot of talent... especially Meg.
Seven Nation Army - Commercial Overkill City, and it wasn't that a great song anyway
Hardest Button to Button - Didn't like it, pretty much annoying vocals, guitar, etc. The video sucked as well.
Are you they actually brother and sister?

Yah boo and piffle to the White Stripes naysayers! They are an awesome band! Jack White not a great guitarist? Oh come now, what rubbish!! Meg not a good drummer. Deary me. It's not all about being Lars Ulrich kids. I'm a drummer and I think she's incredible. Simple patterns delivered with aplomb. Actually they ain't all THAT simple. Are we back to the old 'girl drummer doesn't hit hard enough' school yard nonsense.... I'm with the majority of the Western World on on this one. They are probably one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the US in a decade! 'Elephant' was a tour de force of an album and I for one cannot wait to see where they go next. Live they are hugely exciting. I've seen them a few times, from wee clubs to major venues and they totally slay!! Are they bro and sis? Of course they're not!! Jack White I believe will be making records long after the WSs are no more. He's a majorly talented songwriter in the classic Dylan, Ochs, Neil tradition. Go check out his work on the Loretta Lynne album (famous country singer folks - wake up at the back). Tsk tsk...

Smallstone...its kool man to like them, like i said im not really a massive fan or anything but i dig them yeah, hmm i wouldnt say jack is a great guitar player and i wouoldnt say meg is a great drummer, but what the fuck has that to do with the music? look at nirvana..kurt wasnt a good guitar player he kept things as easy as he could,im not saying the stripes play easy music or anything but who gives a fuck weather they play good or bad they have millions of fans and are sure doing pretty good today.
I would say they are one of those bands out there today that are kool to listen to and there is alot more ''SHIT'' music around than the wite stripes.

i guess when i said that i really liked jack's guitar style i forgot to add that i actually like the band as a whole too, but i thought my comments would give that away. oh well.
jack will definitely keep on putting out interesting music for many years to come, but i wonder how much they can push this duo thing if they want to keep it at rock band level without falling into repetition. he's already been overdubbing some bass lines on the elephant. they can probably do one more album along those lines, but then they should probably try to break free from their own formula somehow. they're both very talented and have a vast knowledge of rock'n'roll... i'm sure they'll work it out.
hey maybe they'll follow the path of mick collins from the super basic gories to the very crowded dirtbombs or something like that. in a way i'd love to hear jack rocking out backed by a full band.
