Ok then, anyone here dig Loop? I've been spending the last few days going back listening to my Loop CDs. Heavens End, Fade Out, World In Your Eyes, Gilded Eternity etc. Spent a fair few bob on collecting all the old 12"s on Ebay too. All the 12"s I couldn't afford when I was a teenager!! Anyone here see them live? God they were good!! Saw them in clubs a few times, but bloody hell they played the main stage (when there was only the main stage!) at Reading in 1990!! Neil their old bassist works in the Covent Garden branch of Rough Trade Records and James their original 2nd guitarist works at Rough Trade the label and amongst other bands is the Libertines A&R man!! Very nice man to boot:) If you don't know them, imagine a harder more austere Spacemen 3. Influenced by Krautock, PIL, Wire, 60s Psych etc. There's not too much on the web about them, but I thoroughly recommend picking up any of there CDs etc if you see them! Fans of Mudhoney will not be dissapointed! cheers

They were a late 80s London, England (well Croydon, England) band. It's nigh on impossible to get their first 2 studio albums on CD. Heavens End and Fade Out. The original vinyl is hard to find too. Check Ebay out - they come up from time to time. Their 3rd album 'A Gilded Eternity' was released on Beggars Banquet and is easier to get hold of. They used to be Spacemen 3s mates, but fell out REALLY BADLY after S3 accused them of 'nicking their sound'. True there are similarities, but Loop were a lot harsher. I love both bands equally. Loop were much more ROCK and influenced by Neu, Faust - Krautrock and dubby soundscapes, Hendrix, Stooges etc etc There early EPS were collected on a great vinyl (and CD) compilation called 'The World In Your Eyes'. There aren't that many websites dedicated to them - I'll dig out the links I know and post them later:) Live they just totally ruled!

Ok I am now sober and on a one man mission to bring Loop to y'all! Another site www.roberthampson.com/This site as far as I can tell isn't Roberts own (he's Loops 'head honcho' but a 'fan site'. Rather good it is to! I'm going thru my annual Loop retrospective. Listening to their fantastic single comp: 'The World In Your Eyes' - still hard to get hold of... someone out there should really re-issue this stuff... Spacemen 3 vs Loop? I think Loop would win the fist fight.....but I'm still torn as to who I prefer... There must be somewhere online you can listen to 'em! Anyways!

You'll love it man! It's dense dark psychedelia!! Fuzzed up mayhem. Heavens End is a great place to start. Where did you get it from? Hard to track down on CD let alone a nice vinyl copy. Well I saw one lunchtime (and The World In Your Eyes comp) in my local 2nd hand store but it was pretty fucked! Tell us what you think!
