Rock legends MC5 are to return to the studio and record their first new material for 34 years.
The band reformed last year and is now known as DKT/MC5 in deference to late members Fred Sonic Smith and Rob Tyner.
Speaking to 6 music before their Royal Festival Hall gig this weekend Guitarist Wayne Kramer said: "Each phase has been one step at a time. We weren't sure we could do this (reform), then we found out we could do it. Then we weren't sure if we could tour, now we know we can tour, so it would follow that we would try and make a record."
Kramer revealed that the band is hoping to get all singers and guitarists who have played with them live to guest on the album.
These include
Lisa Kekaula from The Bellrays and Basement Jaxx,
Mudhoney's Mark Arm
Mark Lanegan,
The Hives Howlin' Pelle Almqvist,
Evan Dando,
David Thomas,
Guns'N'Roses' Gilby Clarke
and
Nick Royale from The Hellacopters.
Kramer continued: "It wouldn't be a record that's trying to be a hit record. We just want to make a record that we would like, that we would feel proud of."
