so yeah I pressed return in excitement and now I look a twat replying to my own mail... anyway! Yes it's true by all accounts J, Lou, Murph are playing in Japan at the Fuji Rock Festival then the Download Festival in the UK in the summer and HOPEFULLY some club dates too. I got my hands on the re-mastered, re-jigged CDs of Dinosaur/You're Living All Over Me and Bug yesterday and they look and sound AMAZING!!! Nice. So yeah, roll on these dates. We've had the Pixes, Slint (who I saw last night and they totally derstroyed the place! - off to see them againb tonight) and now Dinosaur Jr getting back together!! Whos next? Husker Du? Black Flag? (with Rollins...) Minor Threat!!! Hey stranger things have happened!!! Actually I don't think it will happen with Minor Threat:) What do people think about all these reformations? Personally I don't mind!! I saw the original Dino Jr line up 16 years ago and it was one of the best nights of my life! I'm all for a wee bit of nostalgia! Anyway as excited by this as me?

i have no problems with reformations. what is really sad is how after all the years some of these bands are still much better than any "modern" band. i mean... the stooges, man, the stooges!! i saw them at their first ever euro show and oh my god it was one of the most incredible thing i've ever seen! the cramps played before them and they were damn good (ok they never broke up but hey). the three MC5 are still an amazing band... with or without mark. wire seems to tour more often and they're pretty good. so do the buzzcocks. i saw the pixies and they didn't disappoint (although i'm no huge fan). the dictators gigs are still a blast. radio birdman kicks ass... if they manage to stay together. i'm still awaiting for some devo tour dates on the continent. and for mission of burma. even the dead boys are attempting a comeback. christ there's a lot... oh yeah, i've heard the dicks reunited last year to raise funds for kerry and people from all over the states flew in to be there (including s.albini and d.yow or so i hear). there's already been a bunch of black flag "reunions"... but none of them really worked out. it would be nice if they had all the singers and not just rollins! on the other hand, i think it's safe to say that the original angry samoans line up will never ever hit a stage again.

yeah I heard about this few weeks ago, and i didn't believe it then, now it really seems to happen, and that's greatestnews for awhile....
Original Dinosaur Jr. Lineup to Reunite!
Caroline Bermudez reports: "Dinosaur Jr., one of the most legendary indie rock bands of the 80's, are reuniting to play the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan with shows in the UK to follow. The BBC reports that the embattled duo of J. Mascis and Lou Barlow will perform together under the Dinosaur Jr. name for the first time in 15 years. Ongoing feuding between the two spurred Barlow to leave the band after the release of their third album, Bug, in 1988 in order to focus on his work with Sebadoh. The 1990s saw Barlow's greatest success with the Folk Implosion and the unexpected top 40 hit "Natural One". Dinosaur Jr. briefly went on hiatus after Barlow's departure and reformed in 1991. The group permanently disbanded after 1997's Hand It Over, at which time Mascis moved on to form The Fog. That group's More Light-- released in 2000 and featuring guest appearances from Kevin Shields and Robert Pollard-- was hailed as a return to form. No U.S. dates have been set, nor has anyone at Merge confirmed the reunion. The original lineup recorded three albums together, including the widely influential You're Living All Over Me, which are set to be reissued with bonus material via Merge on March 22."
so that's really awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
