well you see to begin with the fake english accent, the crap guitar playing, the really shit production, the complete lack of energy (not the physical type, but the musical type), absence of group dynamic, lack of variation in thier songs and sounds, and most importantly no passion or emotions other than fake anger!!! sorry this aint a dig at you either simply the reasons why i dont like them!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure about the fake English accents Thorn. They seem pretty genuinely English to me, them all being English and all:)
I have weird feelings about the old Sex Pistols. Apart from a few 7" singles I inherited off my brother when he left his record collection with me I don't own anything. Nevermind the Bollocks included. I don't feel the need either. Musically they are so engrained into ones conscious it just doesn't seem needed. Culturally they have made such an IMPACT that one can't ignore them. But musically? I kinda see them as the culmination or continuation of speedy Mod 60s stuff, the Who, Action, Creation etc. Late 60s Detroit stuff, yer Mc5, Stooges etc and sort of a rock and roll classic thang. If you're looking for a better band then I prefer early P.I.L. There's a big focus in the UK and the coasts of the US (maybe elsewhere too!) on Post Punk at the moment. All these 'haircut' bands referencing Gang Of Four, P.I.L., Scritti etc etc etc. I can understand why folks love them so much though. I know a few 'scenesters' from the day, Kings Road 1976 types. They eulogise the Pistols so much! The comment you always hear is that before them EVERYTHING was so conservative and dull over here. Everything seemed grey. But they shook up music, film, TV, magazines - culture in general. But personally speaking, musically I can live without em:) As for Lydon. He can do what the hell he likes in my opinion. Reform them every 6 months. Go on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Panto, Eastenders, whatever! He makes his money these days out of property development!!

i was 8 years old when i fallen into punk rock. my mother used to listened hippie stuff like led zep and doors. then one day she brought few punk vinyls to our flat. one record was Sex Pistols "Nevermind The Bollocks". it was awesome. My mother listened it all the time. then i went to rec store and i bought first record by myself, it was Dead Boys "Young Loud And Snotty" - it change my whole world.... somehow i've always love more US than UK's punk bands... and today: if i want to listening late 70's punk bands i always listening Dead Boys and Stooges kind of stuff... sex pistols not so much. but i listened it alot when i was young (even when my mother was on work or in bar )

Yeah thorn thats fair enough i was just curious as to why you hate them thats all.And i agree with smallstone + marchtofuzz also on what they said.I think it was more the image and attitude sometimes than the music but it did change alot of things during that phase where eveything was all black and white as smalltone said,Personally i like their music but i dont think it is anything to special but overall i'd say i dig them.
