Steve's solo work is very mellow, mostly acoustic, and really shows his folk influence...

To be honest, I can enjoy the concerts I'm visiting by myself. It's easier to stand in front and you can leave whenever you want to. Most of the times I meet some people I know at the concert anyhow.
Don't your friends like Steve Turner? Or Mudhoney? I wouldn't say my friends stick to one style of music, but it always have to sound properly, you know? For example, they don't like Black Flag, the Wipers, The Meat Puppets or Mudhoney, 'cause it sounds too raw or snotty. I hate that. But hey, they're the ones who miss some fine music, not me ;]

GREAT Steve Turner solo show last night at the Windmill. Played a great set - some new tunes - great to see him solo again!! He seemed in great spirits and enjoyed the London/Dublin shows. All good!!

Sheesh sorry guys I lost the thread! So yeah - Steve at the Windmill. He played about 45 minutes. He played his sweet Guild late 60s semi acoustic through a Line 6 digital amp. Mixture of the old and new technology:) He sat on a stool cracked a few jokes about how he's played a lot of solo shows in London and how they've all been awful and no ones turned up (not entirely true - he played at a Loose club night at the 100 club which I DJayed at and theer were a 100 ish people there - but then I've seen him play to about 10 people too....). He played a mixture of tunes off his 2 solo albums and the Ep + a bunch of new songs that are more PUNK than before. Shorter more scratchy kinda less folky. All good though. He played a few covers - told some more storys about fake punk rock bands like Pennywise that Mudhoney have toured with. It was a good night!! Always good to say hi to Steve. Shame there weren't more people there!! Though for a proper solo Steve show it was the best attended in London. The support was this great 4 piece band whose name is like some surnames like a law firm - can't remember now what they were called..... but they were cool - one of the dudes singing and playign had a real Richard Thompson vibe going on. I dug it! So there you go:)
