Townsends in Chorley. Your friendly local indie So how far are thru Mr H8kurdt? No townsend in Leyland- they just rang me up then to tell me it was in now -, not that far from chorley though (chorley is the back end of no where if anyones intrested it what it's like). Wait a minute, do you live near there? As for the album I really enjoyed it. The only problem I had was the latter half sora dragged after hard-on... Wow, just shows personal taste. I feel it just starts kicking into high gear with Hard-on through the rest of the LP. I think its a great record, just hope we won't have to wait another three years for the next one!

anyone knows the date of the pic where the guys are playing ? it was taken by Steve Gullick, and it looks a couple of years old (circa 2003 maybe) just wondering .... That is what I was thinking also. Steve is playing his trusty mustang which has been on display at the EMP museum for awhile now.

well steve has had lots of mustangs. which one did he donate to the EMP? the sonic blue one he used in the early years? apart from that, i think he got himself at least a couple of "striped" models later on.
i think the new LP is well balanced all around.
after hard-on we've got at least three winners with the fuzzy instrumental, the wonderful let's drop in and blindspots!
and before hard-on we've got what i regard as two of mudhoney's best songs ever: endless yesterday and empty shells.
so i really dunno... yeah well... i guess i just really love this record.

My signed LP arrived this morning and a thing of beauty it is too! I also got some free stickers and a nice badge. ;D
I was DJing at a friend's band night on Wednesday and followed up the pumping remix version of Sparks' (Baby Baby) Can I Invade Your Country? with Hard On For War. There was pandemonium on the dancefloor.
EAT THAT, GEORGE W!

I got my signed LP. Beautiful package. The CD I ordered was signed too?! At least it looks signed - maybe it's printed? I really like the extra CD - but more on that later!!!!!! Inside. Couple of stickers and a badge too.
The art of the album and the label copy is I think amazing. All that info on what instrument they played on each track. Perfect for a gear nerd!!! Harks back to old Spacemen 3 albums - I love it!!
All in all price wise as well - total bargain. If you went into say HMV in London the CD and vinyl (if they even have vinyl!) would set you back over £20. Getting it direct from Sub Pop with all these extra bits was only £24!!

The one at the EMP is the blue one. On exhibit, among all the other northwest memoribilia, is Steve's guitar, his big muff pedal, mark's superfuzz pedal of what was used to record Superfuzz Bigmuff. I didn't realize he had more mustangs, though yeah, it seems very likely that he does. I guess I didn't think so, cause in a few articles I have read it talks how they are definitely not gear heads, and that Steve has been using the same amp all these years.

I really need to get my scanner working - got this great article from around 1994 where Mark and Steve are SURROUNDED by the bands gear. About 4/5 different Mustangs. Mark has about 3 different Hagstroms and that beautiful 3 pick u Gibson SG Custom he played around Piece Of Cake. Steve has (or had) a smallish collection of Harmony guitars. He's had a few Mustangs over the years. Not sure if gear heads is a term you can attribute to a working band, but over the years they've gone thru loads of stuff - but then a band thats been around for 18 years would Mark used to play this cool Jaguar around the time of the Mudhoney album - the one with the sticker of a dog on it - wonder what happened to that. Then there was that Epiphone Coronet (? - looks like a SG - nice guitar - might not be a Coronet) around the time of Piece Of Cake as well. He's used the silver sparkle Gretsch for a long time now, as well as the Hagstrom with the Filtertron pick up. The blonde Telecaster with the bigsby trem. gets an airing live as well as on the new album. Steve's been using the Guild Starfire since about 2003/4 (maybe a bit later). He seems to have ditched the Mustangs now both live and on record. He also uses that Gibson Marauder as a spare (Mark used it at Koko too!!). But yeah..... what about the knackered guitars. Marks original blue Hagstrom (Superfuzz cover) bust at an early Berkeley show? There was a great Guitar mag interview around the time of THT (1998) where they talk 'gear'. Steve has gone thru loads of amps. I think they keep it kinda simple live..... but would LOVE to see their collection at home!! Got this lovely recent-ish photo of Steve playing a marvelous Gibson 12 string acoustic. Tonight I shall fix my scanner and try and learn how to post stuff on this site:) Pedal wise..... Jesus from what I can gather they've got loads of stuff..... MORE GEAR TALK!!!! COME ON!!!! much love ;D
