SMALLSTONE--don't waste too much money on the dope guns 7". first of all, there were more than 10 copies made on red vinyl... many more. i see that single up for sale on ebay almost on a weekly basis... every now and then a red copy will pop up. i snatched mine for TEN euros (including shipping!).
by the way, do you use ebay.co.uk or ebay.com? not sure if it does make a difference... maybe it's like ebay.de (the german one) which is totally separated from the american version... anyway, if you're on co.uk, try the .com and see if there's any difference.
and whatever you do--DO NOT buy from record stores, especially if they're in the UK! i should know better, i've thrown away lots of cash buying mudhoney rarities when ebay was yet to come... things like 20 quids and more for a EGBDF picture disc, which now goes for less than $10 (and remains unsold). what's really amazing is that people in the uk STILL charge those prices... so there must still be folks PAYING those prices... why!? it's really hilarious when the guys at eil.com (i.e. reckless records if i remember correctly) try to sell black vinyl copies of this gift for like ten pounds on ebay next to some john doe trying to sell his for 99p.
brown vinyl copies of touch me are kinda easy to find but expensive because everybody wants them. same goes for the black version. (200 copies). the REALLY rare edition of that single though are the very few copies made on other colors (red, yellow, orange, clear, purple... the list goes on). less than 10 copies for most of those colors, some may well be unique pieces.

Indeed! Can I also welcome Yoodooright to the board!!! I'm sure in future days his posts will mushroom, oh yeah!.. Too late though re: Dopes #1. I've already got a black vinyl version - spent a bit but I got it on Ebay from a reputable source. Nice mint copy too. I use a combination of Ebay.co.uk/Ebay.com and sometimes ebay.au. I've never really bought from UK 'record dealers' and I gave up going to record fairs a long time ago. Eli.com is just a joke. WAY too overpriced. Ebay for me is just more convenient as I trade a lot in records and I only take Paypal so I've built my collection up from trading old unwanted rare stuff. I rarely use or break into my own cash as it were. Turned over a lot of money in the last 5 years - but spent a lot too..... However I've picked up some amazing bargains. A really odd promo of the EGBDF pic disc. Cheap coloured edition of stuff like You've Got It (white vinyl version), the Oz Au-Go-Go versions of Superfuzz etc etc. Loads of cheap bootlegs. All for less than say £10. I've pretty much got what I want now aside from the Oz version of Mudhoney 'Mudhoney' and like you say weird coloured vinyl versions of Touch Me I'm Sick. But I'm not that bothered about collecting every coloured vinyl version of EGBDF.... I don't have the room! It's little weird things like laminates and odd press packs and cuttings I collect now. I do realize this is kinda sad..... So Yoodooright whats your favourite Mudhoney piece? Always excellent to welcome a new person to the board

To be honest I don't feel the need to get rare vinyls et al. I got/have some Nirvana stuff like 'the priest they call him', CAYA single and the sub pop sessions but thats it. What's the priest they called him like? I've never heard the song but heard so much about it.

I got it on vinyl abit ago (I'm thinking of selling it). It's OK just Kurt playing noisy guitar in the background with William blabbering on about his favorite topic, Junkies.

As far as I know, there are 250 black and 250 red versions of the Dope guns 7". I've heard, that the rumour with the 9 pressing was only a joke from Tom Hazlmeyer. And I saw the red one as often as the black one at ebay and I guess that couldn't be possible if there really exist just 9 copies.

Yep, I have the whole series with the black one from Number one. And the funny thing is, that the auction with which this topic started at this forum is the one that I bought. Guess so, it was the time ;D
