www.fullinbloommusic.com/912_mudhoney.htmlWorking some media and PR in San Diego this weekend for the Southern Comfort Music Experience featuring Spank Rock, Cowboy Mouth, Mudhoney, Flogging Molly and The Roots, Jones had a chance to sit down with the guys from Mudhoney and according to the band, the success of the new record that was released earlier this year and the fun the guys have been having on tour has spurred them to record another CD to be released in 2007. Mark joked that that was also their intention in 2002, but that record took 3 years to finish. He has higher hopes for the 2007 release. ;D

He, 2007 sounds a bit too early, it's unlikely we're gonna see another Mudhoney album in 2007 I think. But what if it would, that sounds like a dream, huh? See, that's what I like about the Melvins, don't be afraid to keep releasing stuff. (And am glad I'm not a Tool fan). Personally I think there is a possibility we're gonna see an album with Joe Lally of Fugazi on bass, probably not under the name Melvins though. See, Joe will support the Melvins for some shows during the current Melvins US tour and Buzz and Dale will accompany him, also see www.dischord.com/news/index.shtml. And knowing the fact the Melvins aren't exactly afraid of documentating stuff, I hope for this as another Melvins release in 2008, or otherwise an excellent soundboard recording. Sorry to get this so off-topic. and i can't believe its almost 2007!!!. where have i been???.... Wasting your time over here!

There's a difference between quality and quantitative time, I don't think I waste my time here, and I tend to contribute posts that are longer than my signature. But hey hippie, if it makes you feel better, I don't hate just you, it's everything that comes from down under, except for AC/DC.

Ok my tuppence re: the 2007 possible release of a new Mudhoney album. I think it's more likely we'll see a new album in 2008. But then what do I know!! Ok if there is a new album I doubt they could turn it around for 2007 knowing how slowly this business works:) They'd need to get into the studio either this side of Xmas or early next year to get it recorded/mixed and set up for a 3rd Quarter (not the best time to release albums - summer and all) or 4th Quarter release. You kinda need 3 months (it seems) from delivery of finished masters to a release. What with press etc set up times. Boring industry stuff sorry - but it's the truth. Gone are the days (unless you're doing this all for a luau and not worried about sales) of recording an album - mixing it, mastering it, sending it over to the Czech Republic to get pressed up on vinyl and having it out in the shops in a month... Anyways - it's all conjecture. I've loved the last 2 albums - I think A Billion Suns just tips it for me.... But personally I kinda fancy them going into a studio (at weekends of course) with 1 producer (or engineer - I mean they don't really need 'producing' do they) and getting down like they did on Tomorrow Hit Today. But if they don't - heck it's all good! But between now and then - would be nice to get that DVD out - early next year?
Secondly and off topic - Australia. Come on Norecess you old curmudgeon;) I'm sure you're joking around but lets spread the love here eh? Whats not to love about Australia?!! Here's a quick list of all things great from the land down under!! Home & Away (esp the 'golden age' 1988-1990...), Nick Cave, Mick Harvey and all the other Aussie Bad Seeds, The Sullivan's, the late great Steve Irwin, Kath & Kim, Germaine Greer, the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Australian No Rules Football, Bob Downe, the Australian Cricket Team (aside from Matthew Hayden), the Saints, The Scientists, Oz wine, Kylie M, Sons & Daughters, Prisoner Cell Block H, the Proposition, Rolf Harris, the Outback, Ghosts Of The Civil Dead, Emus, Koalas, Kangaroos and wombats, Bryan Brown - and I've never been to Australia!

Of course I was joking. And, hey hippie, I'm a hippie myself.
I'd like to add Grey Daturas and home-brewed beer to the list of great Australian things. And it's a goddamn shame you didn't mention AC/DC!
