I've never come across a label the didn't need money! Sub Pop are ok. How many labels stay the same over the period of nearly 20 years. Be a bit dull if they did. Not sure there ever really was a vision or if there was Yeah we can all harp on about the 'golden years' - but we're talking about a pretty short period of time. really. They're released some stinkers since the start. I mean Blood Circus and Swallow...come on Not exactly mourning the demise of the Hardship Post, Hazel or Green Magnet School either. Sub Pop have always been patchy - thats part of the charm. But these days... I really really like Iron & Wine and the Shins and er.... Mudhoney:) And Pissed Jeans! Wish they'd do more stuff like the Radio Birdman and Dead Moon comps. Something more for the 30+ re-issue crowd. Thats kind of my main point really. More re-issues!!! Not too bothered by Ugly Casanova or The Helio Sequence either or the bloody Thermals. I picked up their latest DVD comp a week or two ago - it's not exactly exciting viewing. I have no idea whether or not 'folks' at Sub Pop are into ALL their bands - I've never met anyone from any label that like EVERYTHING they put out.... that includes Touch & Go

Maybe not everyone who works there - no idea how many employees they have, but Patton only picks artists he personally likes.

I agree with norecess. It is the band I listen to, not the Label. But for me it is still the same with Sub Pop like 15 Years ago. When they signed a new act, I listen to it. Sometimes I like it, sometimes not. 15 Years ago there was more I liked than today, but I still find something I really like, for example Iron & Wine, Kinski or the new Single from the Tall Birds. And I also have to say, the rest I don't really like is always interesting and I can understand, that is something special for other people.

And some words to the auction. I think 3.211 $ is a lot too much for this collection. Especially during this times. I was never so easy to get the the Sub Pop stuff for cheap money. The average price for each one is 21 $ and there are not so much singles from this collection for which you would get so much money. Of course some guys would pay 1.000 for the first Nirvana but even then, the average price of the rest is 14 $ (hey, and I even get the first Tad last year at ebay for 8). So I hope for the buyer, that he bought this collection to keep it, cause of course it is a really fantastic collection (I only have 86 of it), but if someone bought it to sell the stuff, I don't think, that he'll get's his money back.

Don't own a signed one - but have 2 (or maybe 3 I'm not sure) copies of this EGBDF pic disc. One I bought really cheap but brand new in a weird now defunct overstocks shop next to the Astoria in London - got a promo copy (where the #s are on the middle it says #8 of 25 or something PROMO COPY) and I think I've got another copy somewhere. But signed - mmm nice!
