Very good show last night! Arrived just in time to watch the Divining Rods play. The Divining Rods feature Chris Newman who is a local guitar hero. He has been in other numerous bands (Napalm Beach, Snow Bud) and he is quite the master of his stratocaster. Nice to seem him in good shape. Jon Wahl and his new band was up next and didn't disappoint. I didn't know that Steve Reed played bass in his band. Steve is a fixture with Mike Watt (road manager/driver/roadie) for all of these years and damn he can play! I hadn't seen Jon Wahl play since his Clawhammer days and it was great to see he still plays a telecaster.
Mudhoney came on at about 12:30 AM and flew right into "Suck You Dry." Next came "It Is Us." Standing next to me was Whitey McConaghy the guy who made the video for the song (He also took tons of pics and video). The crowd was going nuts for two rave ups right up front in the beginning of the show. Steve started "You Got It" with his slow start that really builds the song up. I think after all of these years and all of the shows I have seen them, "You Got It" is the one song I just have to hear each time I see them. It takes me over the top. Afer those three songs I lost track of the setlist.
Other songs that I remember offhand are, "If I Think," "Into The Drink," "Sweet Young... into Touch ME.." "Get Into Yours","In and Out of Grace," "Straight Life""Here Comes Sickness" and many others. More will come to me later and I will post about it. They did close the set with "Hard on.." Then came out on the encore with "fix Me", and "hate the Police" to end the show.
Great night! Here are some pics that I took.
