I've asked for a straight swap with his yellow copy - if not then yeah, I'll probably hold onto it for a five spot (that's £ not devalued American $)

Well I just have the brown version which was rarer in 1989 than it is now. I don't collect colours but good records. I have a black copy of the Swallow single which is allright by me. By the way Swallow has just reformed and are playing again.

Let's spare a thought for the guy who ponied up £126 for exactly the same bootleg as me. I'm gonna get in touch with him as soon as I clear up my own mess!

You're right!!!!!!!!! Be assured collecting other more obscure bands than Mudhoney will become a nightmare.TMIS/SWYTASNM is just a garage classic like any other you should own on 45.

I'm glad this has got sorted out I thought there was something a bit odd about this 7" - looked too good to be true.... you can't kinda come out and say this looks like a bootleg straight off - but the seller dude seems to be being cool about it. But thats the things about Ebay innit - ya can ask questions and stuff but with 7"s like this ya gots to check the run out groove etc is all cool. I just don't understand bootlegging like this! Why bother to go to all that effort!!

Well, my refund came through today (the swap for the yellow 1st pressing didn't work out) so all's well that ends well. Still got to nail one of these suckers though!

I'll take that as a "no" then Well, it just arrived on my desk this morning and sad to say, I'm fairly sure it's a bootleg. For one, didn't the original pressing come in a plain white sleeve? This arrived in a regular 7" paper sleeve inside a clear 7" bag. And isn't there supposed to be the message "what does the word crack mean to you?" in the run-out groove? Well there ain' t on mine. It is stamped "GOLDEN" (as in Golden Mastering) in the run-out but any bootlegger could have done that I suppose? Meh. What's my next move? Hi, I just joined the forum. I do not believe the eBay item being disussed at the top of page 5 is a bootleg. It is a legit Sub Pop release that the seller may be coyly trying to pass off as a 1st pressing on black wax. These pressings do exist. They simply come with a 3rd edition foldover sleeve and the seller chose not to "include" that information in their listing. The seller has relisted another copy, again without that information. I chose to list this record with a more informative description. The labels are certianly different from the dark blue labels listed in my ebay store. I have yet to compare it directly with the first pressing that I have. Oh yeah, to those of you who think $169 is too high/stupid for a 1st press brown vinyl: I have sold one previously around this price. Buyers determin price - not sellers. I have not seen one sell for less than $99 in many moons. Whoever thinks that these records sell for $50 should quit holding and pass to the left.

Welcome Beerstain. Good to have you on board. I think I've purchased Sub Pop items from your Ebay site in the past You are of course 100% correct re: the TMIS version. I checked my third Ed TMIS this morning and indeed the 7" discussed here is just that version minus the sleeve....not a boot. Re: TMIS 1st edition in brown/yup I paid £80 for a copy a few years ago (that's about $160). Fair price I thought at the time. TPS, different coloured pressing of 1st ed TMIS do go for rather high prices due to a few folks (who post on this board from time to time) getting into Ebay bidding wars - god bless 'em! If I had the cash....
