My mate read this magazine not long ago with a RHCP interview and apparently Frusiciante said "I am the greatest guitarist in the world today" or something like that.... Yeah, whatever.
come on now, give him a break. this is the guy who said he's got voices in his head helping him to compose his solo albums. he's a muso, a talented guitarist, an ex addict, a weirdo, and has a bizarre sense of humor. heaven knows what goes on in his head! but when he bothers, he can come up with some cool music. i'm not saying he's my rock hero, but even when he fails, he's still more interesting and sincere than 98% of the musicians out there.
Couldn't have put it any better. If I would participate in this karma thingy, I would have applauded you for this one, which would be the first time here on the board.
Ok, I'm getting a bit sentimental over here, but you made a valid, objective point. Except for the last part maybe, but I agree with you on that part too anyway.
I like John a lot actually, but in few doses, as I like about one hundred other bands. But lately it's a been a lot of John again. The guy is so well gifted, the talent is all there in front of you when you're listening to his music. Even the ones here that are into catchy, melodic rock, go check out To Record Only Water For Ten Days.
And of course the tragedy around him, which makes me like certain artists better. Like Wesley Willis and Daniel Johnston. Or, well... not the best examples for John perhaps, but an inspiring background is important for me.
