I found this in a Dutch Newspaper:
"Nirvana- With the Lights Out
We could already snif into the personal diary of Kurt Cobain. We already got totally useless and quality poor live compliation From The Mudday Banks Of The Wiskah. Last year it looked that the last Nirvana, the greatest hits cd, was there, including the last ever ecorded song of the band. But now appears that we have a boxset, With the Lights Out, 3 cd's and a DVD in a wonderful package.
We must hope that this will be the last of the band, but don't understand me wrong, Cobain was a very good songwriter and we may not underestimate his influence on the music of the 90's.
But how are you going to make happy with such a compliation of songs, often recorded ar repetitions or radio shows? And the most of these songs are already releashed on the studio albums. The 3 discs contain mainly material form Bleach, Nevermind and In Utero. Plus some Leadbelly and Led Zeppelin covers.
It is nice to discover how Cobain wrote the songs. Nice to hear how raw and wild Nirvana was, plus and some unknown song like Clean Up Before She Comes. But you must be an enormous Nirvana freak to listen 3 1/2 hour to B recordings from the band.
Unplugged and Nevermind are better to keep the story and legend alive."
Sorry, but it seems that the writer did listen to the cd's very good and probably he didn't saw the DVD!

I do have one criticism:
Talk to Me is not on the CDs! If it was, I'd record it onto another CD, and give my drummer to learn the drum part.... but overall, totally fuckin' excellent.

i am not sure is this right topic for next but:
In Jack Endino's latest newsletter he talks about working on the Nirvana box set and explains why the fabled Fecal Matter Demo was not included:
"This past summer, we got word that the Box Set was going to happen, yes, really truly this time. Having been semi-officially researching material for the box with co-conspirator Gillian Gaar since 1998, it was hard to believe it, but sure enough, the starting gun was fired, and it became a frenzy to make sure we had the best sources, and the correct credits and dates. A deadline crunch happened at the end, with Silva Artist Management (for Krist and Dave) and Courtney's people (Peter Asher, for Sanctuary) trying to agree on a final track listing for the box set, as the deadline for the booklet art and layout got nearer. That's why there's a picture of the Fecal Matter cassette in the booklet, but no music from it; Courtney's people decided that it was not really 'Nirvana' (i.e. it's Kurt and Dale only, so why share it with Nirvana LLC?) and held it back at the last minute, which is why the set starts with 'Heartbreaker', which would not have been my choice. At the VERY last minute, Silva Mgmt got access to a trove of 'Kurt cassettes' that Courtney has been talking about for years. That's where 'Mrs. Butterworth' and a few other things on the box (mostly acoustic stuff) came from, literally out of the blue in the final weeks of preparation for the box."
Endino notes that Dale Crover is most likely not the drummer on Mrs. Butterworth and that, unlike what it says in the booklet, it was probably recorded in 1987. Finally, Endino speculates that future releases will be complete concert recordings as the box includes most of the non-live rarities, outtakes and demos available.
Rasmus Holmen (http://www.nirvanaclub.com) wrote also that: "I don't think we should hold out for any more releases of Kurt demos or other unreleased demo/studio stuff. Including the Fecal Matter Demo. Of course, one can argue that all the solo acoustic stuff (and garbage such as Beans) is "not really Nirvana" either. While not a member of Nirvana, Dale Crover certainly had a significant part and actually plays drums on parts of Nirvana's debut album...."

no complaints are allowed, especially since anyone who complains obviously doesnt understand the genius of nirvana, or any of the other great bands of that era!!!
