From last nights (or the night befores) Letterman show - Dinosaur Jr killing all the chickens in the truck - www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNr1vOChZ6Uand yup thats is J playing his signature guitar - in the shops soon.... Letterman seemed to dig it too. For those that care the albums midweeked at #40 in the UK charts (after 2 days) and sold over 2000 copies - thats pretty good!

I've spent most of this afternoon watching the Dinosaur Jr Live In The Middle East DVD (the club in Boston, Mass - not as the guy who sold it to me in Fopp thought Israel or Syria - though that would as we agreed have been interesting!). Unsurprisingly it totally f****** slays! Absolutely awesome performance. Really kicks in about track 6 with Forget The Swan. The a couple of Bug tunes, the Post and Budge that are cool if a little scrappy then it just explodes with the Lung and The Wagon. Great little extra bits of them live at Koko doing Chunks + a sorta mini documentary with Thurston, Kim, Albini, Watt, K Shields and a seriously wasted looking Sonic Boom talking about their influence. Best £11 I've spent in a while - y'all should all go buy this now!! Amazing! Now if only Mudhoney could complete their much mooted DVD.....

So I went to see Dinosaur Jr play the Scala in London last night. Missed the 2 x supports, got a nice spot in front of J. Popped my ear plugs in (it was so loud you could feel the air in front of the PA vibrating. It was as ever, a great show. Plenty of tunes off of Beyond, mixed up with the classics. We got the Wagon, Out There and Feel The Pain from post-Lou era. Sadly no Lung, but a rather excellent Sludgefeast. Encores of In A Jar, Freak Scene and then Just Like Heaven. We were according to Lou more of a Just Like Heaven than Bulbs Of Passion crowd. Wish they'd play a few tunes off of Bug (aside from Freak Scene). But hey ho! Probably the best view of Mascis play I've ever had, sorry to such a guitar nerd, but his playing/technique is just mind boggling. I really should have bought my camera....So all in all. Thanks
