The Posers really good band (thrash punk)
The Machines i dont llike them that much (death metal)

I'm from a small town which is part of a bigger community named Zaansad which produced The Ex and George Baker (Little Green Bag, the intro from Reservoir Dogs).
The current scene is pretty dead. There used to be a lot of punkbands - which is Zaanstad famous for - and some death metal bands (which I didn't mind at all) and now there are some crappy ska and punk bands, not really good ones I think.

Interesting thread - nice one!! Being from London means there isn't as such a local scene as the place is so huge!!! Just MILLIONS OF BANDS! Mostof which are rubbish and get in the NME 'cos they once smoked an xtc pipe with Pete Doherty in some East End drug bin.... It's much much easier to list all the London bands that suck! But within the wee scene that me and my mates play music in I'd say a shout out to these folowing bands who I think folks on this board would like! Part Chimp - total godhead noisey band who record for Mogwais label Rock Action. They are 'local' to me in that their studio which I rehearse at is in Camberwell. Check out their 2 x albums We Are Cum and Chart Pimp! Todd - they're from London. Great band!!! Loony lead singer! Trencher - from London an Brighton (whic is London by the sea:). 3 piece - drums, bass and casio prog Grind!! Fast and sweaty! No guitar! CASIO ORGAN!! I'm Being Good - mainly Brighton. One of the greatest unsung bands of all time!! Go see them, my band Hey Colossus and Shit And Shine (who are a Todd off-shoot band) next Tuesday at LSE in Aldwych!! Tues 25th Oct! Cove - who are more Kent than London. Quirky, off kilter 4 piece. Check then out at www.jonsonfamily.com+ other cool bands like Chalottefield, Reigns and of course Hey Colossus!! If there is a wee scene of bands that get written about in the more underground press circles I'd like to mention a band called Lords from Nottingham who are totally incredible. ZZ Top meets the Fall! nice thread!

We have a pretty active scene right now. I haven't seen any bands that make me wanna stand up and pay attention though. I wanna start a band but no ones even slightly into the same stuff as me Their's a website dedicated to the music scene around here (www.prestone.co.uk (PLUG))
