I would love to keep the Dinosaur thread alive, but this is even better news: a new band with J on drums. For those who are unfamiliar with the pre-Dino outfit Deep Wound, here's another chance to hear what J's like on drums. I alreadyknow he's amazing. A new - not really, according to Tee Pee's website - band has formed and it's named Witch. See www.teepeerecords.com/bands/witch/. A new album is coming out in May 2006.

The 'Witch' by Witch album is great. Managed to get hold of a promo a few weeks back. Anyone with a passing interest in J Mascis will dig this. His drumming is pretty awesome. He drums like he plays guitar. Total attack! It's Sabbath, Deep Purple, 70s rock. Pretty blissed out 'occulty' vocals (not Mascis - one of the Dino Jr/Fog alumni - Eric something...). Would very much like to think they'll be playing in the UK soon.... maybe around ATP? J could support himself! Check it!!!

Witch's management had asked Roadburn if Witch could play there, unfortunately for Witch, and for me, the line up was already full. Wicked album indeed, I'm digging the artwork on the t-shirt as well.

I know, and it's neither hardcore nor metal, but sludge. Their self-titled album is goddamn amazing. Have you heard it?
