I have a bunch of Bauhaus 7"s. She's In Parties and Spirit to name a few. Best to check out the 'Best of' called 'Crackle' released on Beggars Banquet in 1998 (I think?) for starters. Saw one of the 1st reformation shows back in er.... 1999? Brixton Academy in London. It was AWESOME!! Went with my wife - she'd never heard them before and was BLOWN away. Totally over the top, completely ridiculous, Bowie-esque Goth melodrama. But they do it with a certain panache! Not a fan of Pete Murphys solo work or Love & Rockets or any of that gubbins but Bauhaus are kinda funny and cool in a pomp goth 80s way!

I'm no expert on their solo stuff - but I know Love & Rockets (which was basically Bauhaus minus Pete Murphy) were pretty popular in the late 80s. Especially in the US. Couldn't name you a singletune by them of any Pete Murphy solo stuff! ive they were so great. Total greatest hits package. It was like I imagine they were live 25 years ago but on a much bigger scale. Very theatrical and glam. I mean their biggest hit was a cover of Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie!! On a goth tip I went to see the Sisters Of Mercy this week. They were awful. I mean they're not REALLY the Sisters of Mercy anyway. Just Andrew Eldritch and bunch of ever changing touring guitarists. Awful sound (so quiet!), so much dry ice you couldn't see the stage and terrible set lis. They haven't released a new record in 15 years! Half the set is new material that is locked in some kind of legal battle with an ex-guitarist. Pretty sad.

the ziggy cover is probably one of my least fav songs by them! i do love the "T. Rex" cover of "Telegram Sam" and the "John Cale" cover of "Rosegarden Funeral Of Sores"
BTW
They sound a lot like the birthday party when you compare both bands live sounds
