Dan gets that 'drum sound' on Good Enough by using brushes. Yes they kinda look like the bristly bit a brush.... hence the name. Usually they are made of wire. Nowt to do with how tight the snare is.
Used by Jazz dudes and just about every drummer at some point.
EGBDF.... Not my fave Mudhoney album by a long way... Mudhoney 'Mudhoney' is much better.. as is Su[erfuzz Bugmuff. Ok it's better then Piece Of Cake and it's on a par with My Brother The Cow. But it's not as good as Tomorrow Hit Today and Since We've Become Translucent. In my opinion
Saw them live on the EGBDF tour at the Zap Club in Brighton in the summer of 1991. Hard to believe thats 14 years ago! It was an incredible show. I wedged myself between a pillar and Matts Ampeg stack on stage for an incredible view. At one point Matts bass strap broke. He carried on playing and a member of the Zaps staff tied the strap up in a knot behind his back so he could finish the song. However the high knot meant that the bass rode up making Matt looks like a Jazz funk dude. I can remember the band cracking up with laughter at this.
What a great show though. My brother came with me and he met the band on the beach (the Zap is right on the beach in Brighton - used to be a great venue but now only does 'dance' clubs). They signed this book he had bought. Not that the book had anything to do with Mudhoney.... In fact Stevie Turner signed it 'Steve Turner Is Not In This Book!'.
