I was wondering if any of you would be interested in a collaboration between Mudhoney and some other musicians and if so, which band or artist? A similar band would be cool but something totally different like Oneida or a snotty punk band would be more surprising and refreshing I think. Or maybe Jello should call 'em if he wants to make another anti-Bush record next year or so Or what about psychedelic ambient? So what are your opinions on this subject?

I'm trying to think of collabs. that have worked and I'm struggling to tell you the truth!! Much easier to think of those that haven't!! Pearl Jam - Neil Young? Oof!! Awful - where it all started to go wrong for Neil methinks... not all PJs fault I guess. Recently for excample Calexico and Iron and Wine. Really bad album!! Calexico are slipping further into the pipe and slippers territory and I&W is better on his own! I don't have much time for the Jello / Melvins CD either... I kinda like the De Konkokurrent labels series of CDs - In The Fishtank series of collabs. Low did one with someone (Dirtry Three?) - Sonic Youth have done one - in fact the SY collabs. on their SYR label are pretty good. Jim O'Rourke (b4 he jpined them permantly etc etc) But Mudhoney.... I dunno. Would it work over an album? They've kinda done one with Billy Childish - that was good! 'You Make Me Die' track! So a whole album may work! Who esle?.... Kim Salmon? An album of duets! Ah you see I dunno if this is a good idea!

Personally I think the Melvins/Lutsmord album was really, really good. And yes, The Fishtank sessions are great indeed. Isis did one with Aerogramme last summer (they also played a show together in Amsterdam but I ddin't like the Aerogramme show), SY did one with IPC (not those clowns) and The Ex, The Ex also did one with Tortoise but I haven't heard that one yet.

Ah you see I dunno if this is a good idea! Working together with other artists has several benefits. First of all, it keeps the band busy and therefore it keeps the fans busy. Playing with other artists also enhances your own skills and maybe it can act as a source or inspiration. Of course collaboration can suck, but they don't necessarily have to.

Agreed Norecess - just not sure if a Mudhoney collab. would work over the course of an album. Since there are (usually) 3/4 years between Mudhoney albums this year it 'may' get in the way of new material. Since the band aren't doing this as a full time thang (like say the Melvins.. possibly... or Sonic Youth) it must be really hard. 10+ years ago they all worked on side projects (as Steve T does today and as I guess Danny does too with the Press Corp) like Bloodloss, Bushpig and Love & Respect. Not to mention Dannys extra curricular drumming work! And hey not to mention the Monkeywrench - new CD out V SOON!!
But saying that.....would be kinda interesting!

This may sound stupid, but how come they aren't as productive as they used to be? Are they getting old or bored? Lack of inspiration perhaps? Families? Money?
