Hello! I don't think there really are any 'grunge' bands and really there haven't been for a long long time if there ever were to start with. Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam don't count. Neither do Creed or Nickelback. Or Bush. Silly term really. No ones going to admit to being one and no one would call themselves it either. It's not even a style of music or a style of fashion more an unexplainable lifestyle aesthetic that burst open for a year (or two) twenty years ago. It then got appropriated to describe a woolly loose clutch of bands who happened to come from roughly the same area and wore plaid possibly once. But some good new-ish bands worth checking out: White Hills Earthless Wooden Shjips Pissed Jeans Howlin' Rain and new-ish CDs from Om Earth Dead Meadow always worth checking out anything Nebula, Black Mountain, Electric Wizard and Boris. These bands play guitars and drums cos they sound good. Oh and the new Melvins album sounds amazing. Buy their last one too None of these bands are 'grunge' but they all rock and thats what counts.

Indeed, I also really dislike Bush, but I always found weird that they managed to record with Steve Albini. I read somewhere that the bush guys really like the Jesus Lizard, so that's why they picked up Steve (they even took them on tour as a their support act!)

RE: Bush. For one! Who'd want to name themselves that! For two. They were awful. For three. I used to work at 4AD and the design guys there did the art for their 2nd album. It meant having to hear the word Bush over and over again and having to hear their crap 21nd album a lot...awful band, The lead dude (Greg? Glen? Garth? Gavin?) came into the office one day..... He had a nice dog ansd he did marry Gwen Stefani.... So who's laughing now eh! Here's a funny quote I read today about them: "If you're blaming us for the existence of a band like Bush or a Stone Temple Pilots, I would gladly not exist if those bands wouldn't," he jokes 2 guesses who this is..... GrrrlRiot - ignore me. Old and in the way. Buy some Bush albums. Better still Creed or Nickelback. I like their rock star song. Better still download them for nothing.
