Hi everyone. I was curious so I thought Id start a thread. ;D What jobs do you all have or would like to have? Are you studying or are you living up the Slacker Lifestyle? Me, I'm about to quit my job working as "Nautical Chart Corrector" that I've had for a year and a half. I'm going sit around and write songs all summer and have saved enough to record an album in autumn Then hopefully I'll become self-employed based on that. Either that or I'll run out of money and have to get a haircut and another job....!! I'm going to miss this job though - the sheer amount of skiving time I get!

Balls this is on the wrong section! Maybe Thurston or M2FZ would be kind enough to move it

Well I class myself as a "musician" as the only money I get is from playing.. but my main income is "Educational Maintance Allowance"

I study Interactive Media at the University of Amsterdam. Today I had my last important test, if everything went well I will receive my propaedeutics - a certificate to prove one has succesfully finished the first school year at a university - next week. Next to that I work like 12 to 16 hours a week for an internet company, also located in Amsterdam. I don't play any instruments but I'm pretty sure I would be a damn good musician. Maybe I'll start playing bass and become the new bass player for the Melvins ;]
(I've read Trevor Dunn will play bass at the London gig. In case you didn't heard yet, Kevin is out of the band)

I guess i fit in to that Slacker thing,Well im normally out of work as i usually quit every job i have after a while,At the moment im earning money by making furniture yes pretty sad i would think to but there aint many options here.I spend all my money on either cd's drugs or something or other invloving music a gig ticket, music t-shirt,new pickup for my guitar ect...i dont go to posh pubs or bar's,i dont go out on the pull every week/day i dont own a car with a max power sticker or alloys, and i aint bought any new clothes in the past year or so.
I would like to earn my money by my own hand though, like playing music or i dunno having my own radio station would be kool,i wouldnt mind being a rodie.I'd also love to do something involing the arts or poetry,But wanting to do something and actually doing something is another matter,so its 14:31 on a friday and i guess i'll just carry on my slacker lifestyle by getting loaded tonight and sleeping wherever i drop.or something like that.

I agree with your second paragraph. I study now, but I have no idea if I will continue in this branch after I got my diploma. Music is my big passion, I'd love to start my own label or something (the book OBCBYL defintely inspired me, especailly the Fugazi chapter). Being a roadie would be amazing too. I happen to know an ex-Fantomas roadie who toured with them last year and his stories are great. Imagine being on tour with Fantomas, the Melvins, Melt-Banana and so on for a few months, hanging out with 'em, watching a damn good show every night. Damn, that sounds like an awesome job to me. Besides, he's still friends with most of those bands.
Since last school year went so pretty damn well I'm gonna get drunk tonight as well though I usually end up in a bed ;]

Could you define "doesnt work out" ? I'm just curious about your plans with your band.
I couldn't live with 25 people man. How can you ever make decisions with such a big group? Anarchy could be an option but that doesn't work in the real world, it's a nice thought though.

dosnt work out meaning not haveing enough money to keep the appartment.
im not really talking about Anarchy it could be a big house and if we all pay for it it could be easy.
