So this only came out in the UK at the weekend, been out in the US for a few months. Has anyone seen it? Did anyone like it?!!
I know we've had our favourite flicks thread and Dawn Of The Dead (Romero's 1978 masterpiece!!) was in my top 10... But this film is bloody awful!!!! I am so disappointed!!
I really liked the Dawn of The Dead re-make too, the 2003 Sarah Polley/Ving Rhames version. Super fast zombies and everything! I'm not a huge horror fan, but kinda dig some films like The Thing (80s version), Evil Dead, the Fog etc etc. Not into your Halloweens or 'slasher' films that much though.
I've never been to see a Romero film at the cinema and went along really excited Saturday lunchtime to beat the weekend crowds - but word must have got around cos in the cinema I went to which must have held 400 people there was only 4 of us!!
It was so bad..... wooden acting, stupid plot, bad special effects, terrible sets!! The lot. To cap it all it's been almost universally praised over here in the UK with great reviews and even the 'high brow media elite' (your Radio 4s, Broadsheet papers etc) have been weighing in discussing it's prescient social commentary!
There's a scene with the zombies wading through water so people have been comparing it to the floods in New Orleans - you know zombies as underclass - comparison with the New Orleans situation etc etc. Actually that IS the best scene of the movie.... but anyway!!
I was as pissed off as I was at seeing what Lucas did to Star Wars with his 3 modern movies actually he almost redeems himself with the 3rd new one..... What bums me out is I really like Romero, his heart is in the right place and I've liked pretty much all the films of his that I've seen. Martin, the Crazies, Creepshow etc
Anyways - rant over! Anyone seen this turkey and liked it?
