guess what SY fans, check up what i found: SONIC YOUTH / MATS GUSTAFSSON ALBUM ON SMALLTOWN SUPERSOUND! We are extremely happy to announce that we are going to release an album with our favourite band Sonic Youth! The album is titeled "Hidros 3" and is written by Mats Gustafsson for Sonic Youth, and performed by Mats, Sonic Youth, our guitar hero Loren Connors, Lotta Mehlin, David Stackenas and Lindha Kallerdahl. Sonic Youth has been our big inspiration since we started Smalltown Supersound, and getting to release this album is like a dream come true. The album contains 9 tracks and 66 minutes of music with some fantastic vocal tracks with Kim Gordon. The artwork for the album is designed by our own Kim Hiorthøy. The CD will be released the 13th of September and is mixed by Mats Gustafsson. The vinyl version will come later and will be mixed by Jim O` Rourke. i saw sonic youth twice while i was gone. (july 29 in chicago & 30 in milwaukee) both were absolutely amazing shows! & i was front & center for both shows. it was great hearing the new material live as well as a good bunch of sonic classics (burning spear, shadow of a doubt, teenage riot, etc...). they had really cool additional stage lighting with different colors & images for each song. the openers (wolf eyes & hair police) were alright. pretty much an hour of pure noise & screaming, but enjoyable none-the-less. after the show in milwaukee a roadie gave me one of kim gordon's bottles of water from the stage. that was pretty cool. well, if anyone else gets the chance to see them this summer/fall, i highly recommend doing so. you won't be disappointed.
