ATP Concerts is pleased to announce the launch of a new season of concerts entitled "Don't Look Back" to take place in Autumn 2005.
To be staged in a series of venues across London, including The Barbican, Koko and the Hammersmith Apollo, the season invites artists to present a retrospective of one of their works in its entirety. In the tradition of ATP, we are curating what we deem to be an artist's best or favourite work (In Other Words The Bands Will Play Their Most Popular Or Biggest Selling Album)
And there are some fucking awesome bands doing this including...
30th August, 2005 The Stooges Fun House Venue: Hammersmith Apollo £25
31st August, 2005 Dinosaur Jr. You're Living All Over Me Venue: Koko £17
15th September, 2005 Lemonheads It’s a Shame About Ray Venue: Shepherds Bush Empire £15

17th September, 2005 Mudhoney Superfuzz Bigmuff Plus Early Singles Venue: Koko £15

21st September, 2005 Jon Spencer Blues Explosion Orange Venue: Koko £15
24th September 2005 Gang of Four Entertainment Venue: Barbican £25

If I only would've lived in London...
I might be going to the Melvins concert, but the Dinosaur and Mudhoney concerts would be pretty great as well. Somehow I've never heard of the Dirty Three.

I've booked tickets to see Mudhoney, the Lemonheads and now Dinosaur. Yes it is 1993. I may well raid the bank and get tickets for the Melvins, the Stooges and the Gang Of Four. Gonna try and blag into JSBX too (I know some folks at his label). Orange is their best album imo - actually don't get me stared on JSBX it's been downhill since this record I think..... I bought that in San Francisco when I was on holiday their 11 years ago with my girlfriend (now wife). The Dirty Three are an incredible 3 piece from Australia based around the mind bending violin playing of one Warren Ellis. The Jimi Hendrix of violin. He plays on the Bad Seeds with Nick Cave. But the band are great. Huge great sprawling violin, guitar & drum epics. I've sen them play a few times, once at the Barfly in Camden about 10 years ago. Check out anything they've done. Great live....Sophia are cool too. Seen them a few times, not as good live as the mighty God Machine which was Robin (the main dude from Sophias) last band, but worth a punt.... This is a GREAT series of gigs, probably never to be repeated. Sell your souls to go to it!!!!
Also has anyone actually received their tickets yet? If anyone has - let us know thank.

I don't have a credit card which I need to order a ticket but I'm sure I can loan my sister's when she has returned from her vacation. I'm not sure yet about going since none of my friends would be willing to actually travel to London to see the Melvins. They all start liking the band really, but they're not obsessed as I am... yet. I may travel to London the same day the concert takes place and return the next day though. By the way, on the website where you can order tickets there's also a link to a website where you can book hotels: www.superbreak.com/go/IM246/london.htm. Are these hotels any good? Or does anyone know other - perhaps cheaper - options? Thanks.

i remember one time i went to see the dirty three... warren ellis has a real talent for music but he's also a nice bloke with a lot of sense of humor... unfortunately most of the people listening to his band are dead serious post rock freaks... so anyway their show begins, and everyone in the room is too cool to say anything, and warren goes like... "hello!" ... silence ... "it's good to be here tonight"... silence... "we're, uhm, the dirty three"... more silence... "we're from australia". and in the silence that followed i screamed "COSMIC PSYCHOS!!!". and he was like, "yeaaah!!", big smile and all. judging by the faces around me, i think noone else in the room knew what we were talking about. suckers.
the gig was great of course.
i think i might have seen sophia many years ago but i can't remember...
the mum/chan marshall night is tempting. i'd love to see jon spencer and gang of four but i doubt i can stay in london that long.

I wouldn't know how so-called 'post-rockers' are like but I can imagine that was a funny situation ;]
Tuesday Sunn 0))) is coming up for me, woohoo! Do you know 'em?
(damn, since I joined this board I'm talking about lots of bands except for Mudhoney or related bands)
