I haven't read anything about this subject on this board yet so here it is. Kevin has been kicked out of the Melvins. Buzz and Dale seem to had enough of him. Too bad, 'cause he is probably my favorite Melvins bass player of all time, closely followed by Joe and Mark D. I'm not sure what the consequences are for Tomahawk but I've heard Duane Denison hasn't been very active lately and Patton is too busy anyway I assume.
Trevor Dunn told in a recent interview he will play bass for the Melvins during their London gig in October where they will be playing the entire Houdini album. I'm actually thinking going to that show. Nice opportunity to see London as well.
David Scott Stone, a close friend of Buzz and Dale, plays bass during their Jelvins gigs at the moment but I don't think they'll hire him since that would probably risk their friendshp. Some people have mentioned Adam Jones, another close friend, but he's probably too busy with Tool. Most likely it won't be a 'famous' musician, as long as he his weird and heavy.

I think its pretty sad man as he was a great bassist and kind fit in to the band very well, but mabye they didnt get on or something.Only good thing is really they aint split up or anything they will continue to make great music and all...so good luck to kevin for the future and all and let the melvins continute to kick holy ass.

The Melvins are never gonna split up. I will be enjoying their brilliance until I'm old!

Hear Hear!! Shame that Kevins gone. He was AMAZING when I saw the band play the Electric Ballroom earlier this year. But if you look at photos of Kevin from when he joined the band (6/7 years ago? or is it longer?) he seems to have aged about 20 years!! Being the bassist in the Melvins must be tough! Houdini at part of ATPS Don't Look Back festival - damn I've gots to raise the cash to see this!!..... This year has been completely insane gig wise. Dino Jr, Melvins already, now they're playing AGAIN and Mudhoney too! Not to mention amazing gigs from Maximo Park, Interpol, Boris, Onieda etc etc It's just so expensive!!!

dude, did you just say... maximo park?! are you serious? aren't they just a second rate copy of franz ferdinand? i've heard a couple of their songs and thought they were quite horrible. edit: i've just noticed you've mentioned interpol in your list of this year's best gigs so far... weeeell, if you say so...

Yup I'm serious:) I think Maximo Park are am amazing band. Their album 'A Certain Trigger' is well worth checking out. I think I'll play it in a minute. Seen them live a few times, met them a few times, great blokes blah blah blah. No they are not Franz immitators. I'm not a Franz fan though. Maximo are like a the natural heirs to Pulp/Fall. Classic British pop band. Paul Smith is one part Jarvis Cocker one part Mark E Smith. Are you saying you don't like Interpol? Surely you can't be saying that? Saw them at Brixton in April I think it was. Always enjoyable live! Both of their albums are great:) Not what gets written about muscially on this 'grunge-centric' board I'll admit, but there you:)

dude, did you just say... maximo park?! are you serious? aren't they just a second rate copy of franz ferdinand? It seems like every new hip band sounds like Franz Ferdinand or Joy Division. Yikes!

Ok, ahem, here's some bands/artists making music today with 'soul':- Sufjan Stevens Maximo Park Black Mountain Oneida Laura Cantrell Cat Power 6 Organs Of Admittance Arcade Fire .... Music 10 years ago = good Music 40 years ago = good Music NOW = good. Just gots to find it:)
Melvins though playing Houdini as part of the ATP Don't Look Back Series. This is getting TOO expensive....Wjat would have been maybe better was bands doubling up... Melvins and Mudhoney. Dinosaur and Lemonheads. This little lot is gonna cost me way over £100!

£100 is fuck all man that is cheap,if i want to go and see like 4 of those bands that i do it would cost me close to £1000 travel and b+b and stuff so £100 really isnt that much man.
