Allow me to wax lyrical for a moment:)
Mid to late 1990s. Aside from Dust by the Screaming Trees I must admit to have become a little disenchanted with the music scene. Post Kurt C US music seemed to be in the doldrums and the UK music scene was obviously obsessed with Brit Pop etc... as it still is really. Anyway I could blather on.. but three records reinvigorated my belief in guitars and US music.

I think around 1998 I heard the term Stoner Rock for the 1st time.... interesting I thought.... it's sort of like 'grunge' under a different name (original Nirvana/Tad/Mudhoney 1987-1989 grunge folks, not Pearl Jam and bloody Mother Temple Garden...). This could be cool!
Let It Burn BLEW my mind. Nebula live were (and still are) awesome. It really IS the sound of rolling down the highway, a doobie in one hand, drink in another.
I've seen them live about 3/4 times & interviewed them once for a friends fanzine (they were very cool guys!).
Mark Arm sings on a cover of 'I Need Somebody' on their album 'To The Center'. 'Charged' rocks. 'Atomic Ritual' blows ones speakers. 'Dos EPS' is great. It's all GREAT STUFF!!! Buy every one of their records and go and see them live.
Yes Eddie and Ruben were in the original line of Fu Manchu. Who are cool too..... but not as cool as Nebula!!

in case anybody didnt notice i started a nebula thread, but everybody was like fuck off thats shit, so when somebody else starts it, its like oh???
but hell yeah i saw them live and fuck me sideways are they soooooooooooooooo damn good, wish i could play guitar like that dude!!! i agree with you samllstone. i like the doobie and beer part!!!! i cant find thier 1st album its the only one i dont have!!!!

By all accounts Nebula have a new album out on Monday!!! www.nebulamusic.com/news/Looks like it came out in the US last month! WOW! Anyone heard it? US folks? I've got a copy coming to me on Monday. Seen no press at all on this.... |
