So how good was it? Well.. that was one of the best Mudhoney shows I've ever seen. I felt like a giddy school girl all day I was so excited. I like the early doors scenario - we were in the pub next door by 10.15! Immortal Lee County Killers warmed the crowd up well. There was even a mosh pit, which for a support band is pretty rare. Koko is a cool place. No trouble getting a beer at one of their many bars. Sight lines are excellent - there are so many different places to watch, sound is good and what with the place being quite new its clean. Hey these things matter!! I was with my wife and 4 friends and we had a great spot up on the blacony. Mudhoney amble on at 8.30 and naturally it's straight into Touch Me I'm Sick. Place goes mental. Afterwards Mark quips 'You can all go home now' (like duh...folks do like other Mudhoney songs). So the set is NOT like the CD. Which is a good thing! We get this (if my memory is correct):
Touch me I'm Sick Sweet Young Thing Ain't Sweet No More Need Chain That Door Mudride No One Has If I think In 'N' Out Of Grace Burn It Clean You Got It (Keep It Out Of My Face) Hate The Police
is that right? Christ it was only last night!! I think this puts paid to that thread of what order Superfuzz Big Muff should be played. The Sub Pop re-issue CD is WRONG! Ha ha ha! Then we get these: Suck You Dry The Straight Life 3 x new songs which I think are I Saw The Light, It Is Us and another one - (or maybe it was just 2 new songs...) Here Comes Sickness
I think that was it maybe I've missed one or two.. did they play Into The Drink? Someone with better memory I'm sure will post the set!! Anyways what a show. I thought it ws better than the Astoria - which was a great show! Hell I've been going to see this band since May 1989! This was one of the best gigs I've seen them do!! They were rocking. Steve was REALLY digging in! Some amazing licks. Halloween was MENACING!!!! If I Think - well all of Superfuzz just tore the place apart! Mark had mic problems as they came back. Caused a few false starts and Danny left his drums to throw the stand into the wings. The whole band were having it. Danny is such a good drummer.. Bought both the posters. The cool hard card £5 one and the psychedelic £12 one. I like this buying posters at gigs routine! Costing me a fortune getting 'em framed though! So yeah! What did folks (who were there?) think? I'm going again tonight!! On my own!

Amazing is the only word I can describe. The set list was (I got the sheets ;D)
Touch me I'm sick Sweet young thing.... Need Chain that door Mudride No one has If I think In n out of grace Burn it clean You got it Halloween Hate the police Encore ---------------- Into the drink Poisoned water I saw the light Get into yours Hard-on for war where the flavor is I had to laugh
God it kicked so much ass though. I got there pretty late but the queue was still small but I wasn't bothered about getting to the front. I get in have a beer and I noticed that their was only like 4 people at the front so I thought might as well seeing as their is room. Bird Blobs were really good. The singer looked like a Mexican mike Patton (!?!). The only problem was all the songs started to mold into one. Then the dudes came on. As ever they were funny and damed cool. The crowd felt crazy behind us but I couldn't see. I shouted to guy "PLAY THE NOLAN'S" "WHAT" "PLAY THE NOLAN'S" He just looked at me like 'what the fuck'. It was a joke, man. I don't think he knew who the Nolan's were. Overall a kick ass night.

Here's a thought!
Why do people throw cans of beer at bands? Picture the scene. You've just paid £3.30 for a can of Kronenburg (this is after paying £15 + booking fees etc and paid maybe to get to the venue - had a few drinks before hand etc.). You're possibly seeing a band you really like. Here's an idea; just as they're starting their set lob a can of beer at them!! Thats sensible!! Sorry - I'm being ironic... Its not sensible and it's not a sign of your 'affection' for the band you're watching it's fucking stupid. If anyone threw a can of beer at me whilst I played I'd stop the set. Sorry had to get that off my chest - only thing that annoyed me about the 2 shows!! Throwing beer cans at Mudhoney. Pretty stupid. Actually that and the mad bloke who asked for a sip of my beer (I gave him the can...) and then tried to climb up the side of the stage to leap into the crowd. Security stopped him! Ha ha ha.
Hello there though to the dude (if he's reading this) who was brandishing the Mr Epp & The Calculations t shirt. Nice shirt.
So anyway - yes. Saturdays set just worked a treat. 2 x tracks from Tomorrow Hit Today! Brilliant. They just seemed to rock that little bit harder on Sat. night - Friday was great don't get me wrong! Halloween again just tore the palce apart. If I Think too. They just seemed so into it as a band. In N OUt Of Grace version Saturday night was the best I've ever seen. Hard On For War is a great track.
To cap it all I got in free on the house guest list which is always nice!! If only I'd had the energy to stick around till 1am..... Earth were doing set..... Damn my ageing body!
