What I meant to say was, Mark and Steve were both straight edge when they met eachother, shortly after Mr Epp broke up.. Mark and Steve were both in Mr. Epp..

Drink and drugs... ho hum. What I found more interesting in the Mudhoney piece was the boys from Mudhoneys recollections of touring with Nirvana and then Pearl Jam. Now I'm no fan of PJs music, far from it. Back in the day there was a LOT of stuff in the press coming from the Nirvana camp (Kurt basically) about how much of a bunch of 'corporate whores' and 'fakes' the Pearl Jam band where. Looking back now it really does seem like a load of old nonsense. Both bands were on majors, both had made really successful 'rock' records. To put it simply Kust just didn't really deal with the whole fame thing that well (not a slight at KC - I maen who WOULD know how to deal with it - right?). Not to say the Pearl Jam guys did deal with it any better either, but the Q Mudhoney piece is prertty insightful into the way bot camps went around thei 'business'. Touring with Nirvana - by was all accounts a nightmare. All the stuff Kurt seemed to rail against in the press and set himself and tha band against (rock star bullshit etc) seemed to surround the Nirvana camp - i.e. yes men (and women), arsey road crew, paranoia, drugs.... Mudhoney after dealing with all of this didn't really jump at the chance of touring with the OTHER big 'grunge' band when the opportunity and invite came. However when they did it was a much better experience. They got treated with respect, made to freel welcome etc etc. Not sureprising then that 10+ years later they're still going out touring with Pearl Jam and by all acounts having a great time! As Steve is quoted in the interview: 'It was so sad to see Nirvana letting go of all control - the most un-punk-rock thing you can do'. As he states Pearl Jam were at ease with their situation (i.e. big selling successful rock band) and Nirvana weren't. Still not a fan of Pearl Jams music and the Mick Wall PJ piece in this Q grunge special again seems to follow the line that Vedder is a dick - who knows!! Journos eh.... That whole line of thought I found interesting and is something I hadn't seen in print before.... The Nirvana 'myth' (and a lot of it IS myth) getting re-evaluated.

When Steve talks about touring with PJ and Nirvana he made alot of sense for Kurt to do. Now, I don't like PJ but the article made them seem like really cool people and they made sense in what talked about. What does everyone else think?
